Section 1

Introduction

This Process Handbook is intended as an internal tool for the management, staff and volunteer experts of the ICTI CARE Foundation to ensure consistent, transparent, and well-documented processes at all times.

In addition to documenting working bodies and processes of the ICTI CARE Foundation, definitions of often used terms are included as a separate chapter to ensure that consistent terminology is used when communicating both internally as well as externally.

The ICTI CARE Foundation relies on its relationships with its stakeholders: factories, brands, retailers, NGOs, governments, and the public in general. Only through a sound process can the ICTI CARE Foundation achieve its goals and meet the expectations of its stakeholders. To this effect, this Process Handbook will be made publicly available.

As social compliance issues and the ICTI CARE Process continues to evolve, this Process Handbook remains a living document, which will be updated regularly to reflect current practices. The latest version of the Handbook will at all times be available from the website of the ICTI CARE Process.

Version 10 as of 6 October 2006 - approved by the ICTI CARE Process Governance Board
